How to Build Your First Fragrance

A step-by-step walkthrough of creating your first fragrance composition using Perfumery Studio — from choosing a theme to analyzing the result.

Your First Fragrance — Step by Step

This guide walks you through creating a complete fragrance composition using Perfumery Studio. By the end, you will have a named, analyzed, shareable creation.

Step 1: Choose a Theme

Before touching any ingredients, decide on a direction:

  • Fresh & Clean — citrus + green + light musk
  • Romantic Floral — rose + jasmine + sandalwood
  • Dark & Mysterious — oud + saffron + amber
  • Gourmand Sweet — vanilla + tonka + almond

Step 2: Pick Your Notes (6–8 Total)

Open the Composer and browse the Ingredient Library:

Top notes (2–3): Pick ingredients that create a strong first impression. For a "Dark & Mysterious" theme: try Black Pepper and Cardamom.

Heart notes (2–3): These define your fragrance. For our theme: Oud and Saffron.

Base notes (2–3): These anchor everything. Try: Amber, Sandalwood, and Vanilla.

Step 3: Set Concentrations

Click each note in "Your Composition" and adjust the slider:

  • Top notes: 5–15% each
  • Heart notes: 10–20% each
  • Base notes: 15–25% each
  • Total should be close to 100%

Step 4: Name It

Give your creation a name — something evocative. "Midnight Souk"? "Amber Whisper"? The AI will also suggest a name.

Step 5: Analyze

Click "Analyze Fragrance". The AI will tell you:

  • The fragrance's personality and emotions
  • Best seasons and occasions
  • Longevity and projection
  • Similar commercial perfumes
  • A complete dry-down timeline

Step 6: Iterate

Read the analysis. Does it match your vision? If not:

  • Swap a note that doesn't fit
  • Adjust concentrations
  • Re-analyze

Step 7: Save & Share

Happy with the result? Save it to your collection. Mark it public to get a shareable link with a rich preview.
